Mitchell played a young actress during The Crow's 1996 filming. Mitchell auditioned for Mary Camden as part of the 7th Heaven family drama. Her audition was rejected the producers who were not convinced she had the ability to portray Mary. Her audition was a success and she was offered the role Lucy. 7th Heaven enjoyed a long-lasting popularity, with a total of 11 seasons.
